DMQ Level 1& 2

Here at Hunting Experiences we are approved witnesses and like to give candidates opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and competence and to record that they have done so according to set standards. Witnesses fall into only one category now as of 2010 – Approved Witness (AW)

We can provide the witnessing for the level 2 DMQ and please read below the following information. If you are looking to complete either your level 1 or level 2 and have any questions then please do not hesitate in contacting us further at info@huntingexperiences.com

The level two DMQ is based on a portfolio of evidence and any supplementary evidence that can be supplied.

When you submitting a portfolio to the Assessment Centre, it will be sent to an Assessor, who will check that it is complete, and that the evidence you have presented is satisfactory in all respects. The Assessor may contact you, and your witnesses, to be satisfied about the validity and sufficiency of the evidence.

When the Assessor is satisfied, the portfolio is then passed to an Internal Verifier who will confirm that all is well before recommending the award of DSC2. The Internal Verifier may also contact you or your witnesses.

If the evidence supplied by you is not sufficient the portfolio may be returned to you for further evidence to be obtained and submitted. This can of course result in delays in the issue of a certificate and can be avoided by providing the correct evidence at first submission.

Since you will be expected to demonstrate the whole process of culling a deer on at least 3 separate occasions we strongly recommends that candidates obtain experience under the guidance of a competent individual before attempting DSC2. Candidates are also advised to consult the Best Practice Guides issued for England, Wales & Scotland by The Deer Initiative or the Best Practice Guidance issued by the Deer Commission for Scotland.

As of 2010, all three stalks must be witness by a Approved Witness (previously Accredited Witness). When you receive your portfolio, you will also receive a list of Approved Witnesses who are currently approved by DMQ. We can either offer you both witnessed stalking opportunities, or accompany you on ground of your own. When you have completed your 3 culls, you will need to make a number of checks before you submit your portfolio for assessment. There is a checklist to the rear of each portfolio.

When you are sure you have done all that is required, you have to sign the portfolio certifying that it is all your own work, and then you send it back to the Assessment Centre.

Only submit your portfolio and other essential evidence. Please do not use external covers or binders and supplementary photograph albums should not be submitted unless relevant to your evidence.

We recommended to contact your assessor to briefly discuss what you are planning to submit; this could prevent unnecessary postage costs and delays in processing your evidence.
